I’m trying out the Planner window that’s synced with my Google calendar, and it seems to default the color to purple, whereas the default color of my calendar is green. I have another synced calendar that is also purple so I’d like to choose a different color for the events that the Planner creates. Am I able to do that currently? I don’t need to have different colors for different cards, but it would be good to have a separate default color.
Hi there!
It can definitely get confusing when multiple synced calendars share the same color. Whether you are using the native Trello features or a Power-Up like Planyway (which is common for Google Calendar syncing), here is how you can manage the colors:
Check the Sync Settings:
If you are using a Power-Up, click on the Settings/Gear icon within the Planner window. Look for a section called "Synced Calendars." Most tools allow you to click on the color dot next to the Google Calendar name and choose a custom color (like green) to match your Google default.
Trello Label Sync:
Sometimes, Trello "Planner" views inherit colors from Trello Labels. If your cards have a purple label, the planner might be prioritizing that. Check if there is a setting to "Color by Label" vs. "Color by Calendar" and toggle it to your preference.
Google Calendar Side:
If the sync is one-way (Google to Trello), Trello sometimes assigns a default color based on the order in which the calendars were added. Unfortunately, in the basic Trello "Calendar Power-Up," the color customization is very limited.
If you are using the "Planyway" Power-Up:
You can easily change this by clicking the three dots (...) next to the connected calendar in the left sidebar of the Planner and selecting a new color.
Currently: If you are using the native Trello board export to Google Calendar (iCal link), the color is usually determined by Google Calendar itself once it arrives there. If the events created by Trello are showing up as purple in Google, you can change that default color in your Google Calendar settings by right-clicking that specific "Trello" calendar in the sidebar.
Hope this helps you get your green color back and clear up the view!
