After February 11 2026 the automation scheduled sort card by age descending stop working.
My original automation is image TrelloCopySort.png, and the log contained:
Wednesday, February 11, 2026 2:07 AM
Sorted the cards in list "To Do Today" by card age.
The automation finished running.
Wednesday, February 11, 2026 2:04 AM
Wednesday, February 11, 2026 2:01 AM
Wednesday, February 11, 2026 2:01 AM
Running automation on board <BoardName>.
Copied 16 cards from list "Daily Tasks" to list "To Do Today".
...
And since then the log is:
Sunday, February 22, 2026 2:15 AM
Running automation on board <BoardName>.
The automation finished running.

I've added just a sort automation and it does not help at all (see TrelloSort.png).
Is there something different that I should do to make the sort work?
Thank you in advance for your help :-)
Hi Nancy,
Welcome to the community.
I tested on my end, and the Automation worked. I wonder if the cards aren't already in the correct order.
To test, could you change the scheduled rule to ascending? And then you can click the rocket icon to trigger it immediately and check whether the order changes.
Another factor that could cause this problem is the list's name. Instead of typing, try selecting from the options presented.
Can you test that and let me know how it goes?
Hi Theodoro,
Thanks for the welcome :-)
I just want to point out that it used to work, and without having done any modification at all, it just stopped.
Also, now, every morning I do Sort by... on my "To Do Today" list, and I select Date created (newest first) and I've got the result I want. This used to be done by the Automation.
And with your suggestion (thanks!), I just changed the automation from Descending to Ascending and it works!!! So, it is as if the meaning was inverted around February 11th. Strange.
I would think that Descending would mean Date created (newest first), no?
I'll see if tomorrow scheduled automation works (with Ascending).
Thanks again for your answer!

Hi there,
I just tested, and descending order puts the newest card at the bottom of the list! Oldest first.
Please, test and let me know how it goes.
But I understand it's weird that it worked and then stopped. Let's try to make it work once more.

Hello Theodoro,
Just to tell you that Automation now works!
It's like the meaning/code of Ascending/Descending was inverted around Feb 11/12.
No matter, I'm glad it works :-)
Though, I just want to point out, this was the log when it used to work with "descending"

Now, even though sorting is done, there is no log that a Sort happened, is it normal?
Thanks again for your help!

Hello,
There will only be a log mentioning "Total operations: 1"
Do you see the number of operations in the log?

Hello,
If you are talking about the Activity log tab, then no, there is never a mention of Total operations.
Here is the Activity log of the last ~2 1/2 days.

Hi, I just tested by recreating my rule, and it does show the total number of operations for me. If everything is working correctly on your end, you can keep it as is—any issues should appear if they arise. However, if you’d like to try displaying the total number of operations, you could delete the current rule and create a new one. This would be a good test.
The total number of operations doesn't show the number of sorted cards, just that it ran once.

Thank you for testing and the information provided.
Since everything works, I won't touch the rules, but if ever, I know that recreating them could fix the logs.
Thank you again for all your support :-)
