I would like to set up an email notification to board members when a new card is added to the backlog list.  When I go into automation to try and create a rule, having selected a trigger ('when a card is added to backlog'). there is no option on the 'Select Action' to add email addresses in order to action this new rule ?Trello Question.jpg

Hi Jason!

The "send an email notification" action is indeed available, but it’s tucked away in the Content tab.

Here is exactly where to find it:
After setting your trigger, go to the Select Action section.
Click on the Content tab (the icon looks like a speech bubble).
Scroll to the very bottom of that section. The last option is "send an email notification to [Email address]".
Enter the email address, subject, and message, then click the blue "+" button to add the action to your rule.

Hi Jason!

I'm glad to hear it worked! Yes, you can definitely include the card title and other details using Variables (also known as wildcards).
To add the title of the card to your email, simply type {cardname} in the subject or message field. When the automation runs, Trello will automatically replace it with the actual name of the card.
Here are a few other useful variables you might want to use:
{cardurl} — adds a direct link to the card.
{carddescription} — adds the text from the card's description.
{listname} — the name of the list where the card was added.
Example of a message:
"A new card titled {cardname} was added to the Backlog. You can view it here: {cardurl}"
You can find the full list of available variables in the official documentation:

Thanks so much - this is really very helpful!!

One issue I have encountered in trying to set up a notification process for new cards is I tried putting a couple of email addresses in but this has not worked.  I'm unsure if there is a specific formatting way of adding them as I only separated email addresses by a comma? Thanks.

I have another question / issue/. I tried adding the card link variable using your suggested string : "A new card titled {cardname} was added to the Backlog. You can view it here: {cardurl}"

However I received the notification email which did have the new card title but did not include a url link to the cardTrello Issue.jpg
