Abilitiy to mix license types in a Trello Workspace?

Does anyone know if Trello allows mixed licensing in a Workspace?

For example: 3 full-time team members buy annual licenses. During the summer, 1 or 2 interns would be added to the same workspace, but their licenses would be monthly and not annual since they will only be there for 3 months.

January - Buy 3 annual licenses

June - Buy 2 monthly licenses for a total of 5 licenses.

October - end the 2 monthly licenses and go back to the 3 annual licenses for the workspace.

Hi!

Short answer: No, Trello doesn't support mixed billing within a single Workspace. The billing cycle (annual or monthly) applies to the entire Workspace, not individual members.

But here's the good news — you don't actually need mixed billing to achieve what you want. Trello prorates automatically when you add members mid-cycle, so the cost works out
similarly.

How it works with your scenario (annual plan):

• January: Buy 3 annual licenses (e.g., 3 × $5/mo billed annually)
• June: Add 2 interns → Trello charges a prorated amount for the remaining months on the annual cycle. So if there are 7 months left, you'd pay ~7/12 of the annual price per
  intern, not a full year
• October: Remove the 2 interns → seats are freed, you're back to 3 members. You won't be charged for empty seats at next renewal

This is actually cheaper than monthly licensing for the interns, since the prorated annual rate is lower than the monthly rate.

Reference example from Trello docs: Adding a contractor 3 months into an annual Premium subscription resulted in a charge of $89.99 for 3/4 of a year — so Trello only charged
for the remaining time, not the full year.
