I’m Alex and I’m a Product Manager at Trello. This past year, we’ve made changes to the Calendar Power-Up that many of you here in this community have noticed and I wanted to take a moment to share some context. The Calendar Power-Up is available as an option for you to enable via our directory of Trello Power-Ups.
We are in the middle of an initiative to modernize the Trello codebase to make pages load faster and more reliably. As part of this work, we’re also making calendar views more consistent across Trello so it’s easier to understand and use, no matter which plan you’re on. We understand this might feel disruptive to those of you who are long-time users of the Calendar Power-Up. In response to the feedback you’ve shared here, we have made adjustments to the Calendar Power-Up. I’ll highlight a few here:
It’s easy to feel frustrated that we had to change any of this at all. From my perspective, it’s a good thing. The code powering the old Calendar Power-Up was written in a legacy framework that was hard for engineers to maintain. By modernizing the codebase, we’re making it easier for us to make fixes and improvements to it in the future, as well as making it faster and more reliable for customers like you.
Please continue to share feedback and ideas for us in this forum! The Trello Planner functionality is an area of investment for our team, so we are keen to keep learning about how you utilize a calendar within your Trello workflows. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on comments to this post in case there is anything else we can help answer.
Alex
