New on Atlassian Learning: the Loom Adoption Guide

What if your weekly status update could be a 2-minute video instead of three paragraphs barely anyone reads? Or if your meeting notes wrote themselves?

The new Loom Adoption Guide is live now and it’s built to help you (and your team) start using Loom in the small, everyday moments where it actually saves time, without overthinking the recording, the lighting, or who’s writing down action items from the call.

I’m Natasza from the Atlassian Learning team, and this is actually my first guide since joining the team, so I’m especially excited to share it with you! 😊

🔮 The myth that video has to be perfect

Recording a Loom doesn’t have to be a big production. A quick, messy, “good enough” video will do more to shift how you and your team works than any long training.

🪄 Where to start

Here are a few good ideas for when to press record:

  • Replace your weekly status update with a 2–3 minute Loom (great if you’re working async!)

  • Use Loom to walk a colleague through a tricky doc instead of typing it all out

  • Send a quick “here’s what I’m thinking” video instead of a Slack wall of text

  • Cancel a meeting that could have been a Loom (yes, it’s allowed!)

  • Still need a meeting? Loom can record the call, summarize the discussion, surface decisions and action items, and publish AI notes to Confluence.

  • Turn Loom on for meetings and nobody who misses a call is left behind, and no one needs to spend 20 minutes afterwards writing up what happened.

We call these “Loom moments,” and once you start spotting them, you can’t unsee them.

👀 If you need more, inside you’ll find…

3 phases: Plan, Launch, and Champion, with tailored advice for different roles:

  • Leaders: How to set a vision for async communication and measure whether Loom is actually sticking. There’s even a simple framework: ask yourself, “Does this need live discussion, or is it mostly one-way information?” If it’s one-way, that’s a Loom.

  • Admins: Everything you need to get the workspace set up for success from day one: provisioning, security, integrations with Jira, Confluence, and Slack/Teams.

  • Champions: This one’s close to my heart. How to model best practices, build excitement through quick wins, and help your team learn by doing. One of my favorite tips from the guide: “Use Loom to teach Loom!” Next time you have a process change or team announcement, record a quick Loom instead of writing a wall of text — it’s faster to make and easier to follow (it’s a human-generated em dash 😉).

Every section in the guide includes “Try this out” prompts with concrete steps you can take right away, plus curated resources like the Loom Use Case Discovery Guide, the “Use the Right Tool for Your Message” team playbook, and embedded training videos (on Loom via Loom, of course).

🌱 A growing collection

The Loom Adoption Guide joins the great company of adoption guides for Jira, Confluence, Rovo, change management, and DC-to-Cloud migration too. You can check out all of them on our Atlassian Adoption Hub.

We’d love to hear from you: are you using Loom? What’s been the biggest challenge getting people to record? Where do you find Loom the most useful?
