Jira Board Configuration Certification is Being Retired

Atlassian is retiring the Jira Board Configuration certification as part of our ongoing effort to focus resources where they can deliver the most value for learners and the program overall. This change allows the team to prioritize development of new exams with more AI-driven features while continuing to maintain and improve other exams.

                                               

To support learners during this transition, the Board Configuration exam will remain available at a discounted price of $50 from May 1, 2026 through July 31, 2026.

Anyone who holds an unexpired Jira Board Configuration certification as of April 30th, 2026 will automatically receive a two-year extension to their certification status.

We know credentials matter to the professionals who earn them, and we want to make this transition as clear and supportive as possible. Retiring the Jira Board Configuration certification enables us to invest in the future of the program, including more modern exam experiences and AI-enhanced assessment capabilities, while ensuring continued quality across our active exams.

FAQs

Who is eligible for the two-year extension?

If you currently hold the Jira Board Configuration certification, and it is not expired, no action is required to receive the two-year extension, including if the certification is in the suspended status.

When will the certification extension take place?

Atlassian is working with our credentialing vendor to extend the certifications by the end of June. As long as your certification did not expire before the end of April, it will be extended. 

When can candidates take the exam for $50?

The exam will be available for $50 from May 1, 2026 through Jul 31, 2026.

How will this impact the Atlassian Certified Agile DevOps Specialist Designation?

Since the certification is being extended for active candidates, there will be no impact for the two years. During that time, consider one of the other credentials:

• Jira Essentials

• Atlassian Cloud Foundations

• Confluence Essentials

• Confluence Administration for Cloud

• Rovo Fundamentals

• Forge Fundamentals

• Loom Fundamentals

Also, more credentials for this designation are coming in the future, including the free open-book certificate exams.
