How to Maintain Your Atlassian ACP Certification (and Why You Should!)

So, you’ve earned your Atlassian Certified Professional (ACP) certification — congrats! It’s a big milestone! 

But did you know that your certification expires after 24 months?
To keep your ACP active, there’s a renewal process that ensures you’re staying up to date and continuing to grow with the Atlassian ecosystem.

I feel like this part of the journey doesn’t get much attention, so let’s break it down together and make it easy to understand.

Where Do I Manage My Certification?

All your certification data and renewals are managed through CertMetrics  Atlassian’s official certification portal. That’s where you’ll go to check expiration dates, upload documents, and track your renewal progress.

How Do I Renew My ACP?

To renew your ACP certification, you need to earn 100 Continuing Education (CE) units before your certification expires. You actually have a 90-day grace period after the 24 months, but it’s best not to wait.

There are two ways to renew:

Option 1: Earn CE Units

You can accumulate CE units by participating in learning activities such as:

• Completing Atlassian courses on Atlassian Learning

• Attending Atlassian global events (like Team or Developer Days)

• Participating in local Atlassian community events

• Presenting at any Atlassian-sanctioned event

📌 Note: While most activities have a limit on how many times you can count them per renewal cycle, courses can be repeated and stacked as long as they’re unique

Option 2: Retake the exam

If CE units aren’t your thing, you can also choose to retake the ACP exam, just make sure to do it within the last 6 months before your certification expires.

How Do I Submit Proof?

Once you complete a course or attend an event, you’ll need to submit proof through CertMetrics:

1. Go to CertMetrics

2. Choose “Credentials” -> “Upload items”

3. Fill out:

• Type of activity (learning or event)

• Date

• Title

4. Upload proof of completion:

• For courses: download the PDF certificate from My Learning on Atlassian University

• For events: use the PDF of the confirmation email or screenshot of your attendance

How Do I Track My Progress?

CertMetrics includes a dashboard (Credentials -> Continuing Education Progress) that shows how close you are to completing your CE unit requirement.
