Roles and Responsibilities. We just did this at a leadership level and I think it would benefit each team to do this at a smaller, team level. I am new to the team so it has been and will be a huge help in understanding this.
For me the network of teams is probably one of the more valuable plays, though often people bemoan stakeholder mapping - despite how quickly and insightful it often is.
For today, it's the Roles and Responsibilities Play. While holiday seasons knocking at the door, we have to clarify if there will be a gap during absence of a team member and who can care about. So, making all roles and responsibilities visible, it's easy to check if each of them is covered during holiday season, or intentionally left blank.
I think all of these plays would be a great benefit to our team. I think as a priority, the Network of Teams play would be most beneficial since our team is set up to address learning gaps within our organization and we will need to work with other learning and materials teams already existing and doing similar work. It will be important to identify these teams so we can collaborate for a streamlined approach to close our learning gaps and to leverage existing content, platforms etc., which will avoid duplication of work efforts. There are other workstreams who will be important in our network that are addressing roles and responsibilities and career pathing and both of those teams will need training support.
Network of Teams Play. We develop software to support a manufacturing plant. We have several teams like Order Control, Accounting, Web Development, QA, Triage... It would be very be very beneficial to our teams to document how the teams interact and the health of the team relationships.
I work at a pretty small organisation where there are not so many, clear-cut teams. I think that all four would be useful to initiate positive developments on how work is organised.
The Roles and Responsibilities is the play which I see the most beneficial. Through this play a team with many new team members can better refine their own roles and responsibilities which also honing in on improve strategic decision making.
I think the Network of teams play will be very useful to capture responsibilities and bridge the relationship gaps that are there is large complex projects
I will prefer the Roles and Responsibilities play to be informed and educated on each roles' responsibilities and be aware on who to contact to incase of any task needed.
The play I think would have been beneficial to a previous team (I'm not currently part of one) would be the Working Agreements play. We actually did something similar when we first formed, but the Working Agreements play is more comprehensive and I think would have helped in establishing working hours for members of the team. Initially, we had some difficulty reconciling schedules and getting consistent work times established for all members. Therefore, I think this play would have helped us to get organized more quickly, and remain more organized throughout our project by establishing a solid foundation of work hours and responsibilities.
The working agreements is a preemptive HR troubleshooting weapon. Of course the personality of each member and hers/his commitment and personality will show how dependebable hers/his written words are.
One of the Team Shaping Plays that my team can benefit from running today is the Team Preferences section. Although my team has a team working agreement, I saw how useful ADDING the Team preferences section because it allows team members to see "Working hours and commitments" which is important when you have team members who work a job and/or attend school and other consistent engagements. When you have this document, the team can now see the bigger picture of how to complete incremental tasks within sprints and delegate work to others where needed to keep the project going.
I think my game design team could really benefit from the Working Agreements play. As a junior game designer , we all have different schedules, communication preferences, and ways of working, which sometimes leads to confusion or missed deadlines. By setting clear agreements on how we collaborate—like how often we meet, how we give feedback, and how we manage our time—we could smooth out a lot of those issues. This would help us stay on the same page and be more efficient, especially since game design requires so much teamwork and iteration.
I believe the Network of Teams would be the best fit for our group since that we are working on the same goal and each responsibilities was connected but should be documented and setup properly.
We had our team identify characteristics of the worst and best teams they had worked on and used that to help define the behaviors we wanted to incorporate into the new team.
My team would benefit from running the Roles and Responsibilities Play as it would "ensure that everyone understands their specific contributions to the team's objectives". I feel that this would go back to basics and prevent confusion and mix-ups in the future. It also makes it easier to revisit and check-in as things come up.
For the project my team will be working on, a strong working agreement will be essential. We will all be working remotely, so establishing an understanding of everyone's schedules and availability, as well as how we would all prefer to meet and share information is very important to our success.
Your team could benefit from running the Roles and Responsibilities Play. It clarifies task ownership and reduces confusion, improving team efficiency and alignment.
Recently, my team created a Team Working Agreement that clearly defines our individual roles and outlines how we can contribute to the company’s primary objectives. This initiative has been going well, as it keeps us informed about both the goals we've set for ourselves and the actions we can take to help the organization grow.
One piece of advice I would offer to other teams is to ensure that everyone is assigned responsibilities they are accountable for. Often, company growth depends on individuals stepping up to do tasks that may otherwise be overlooked—whether it’s taking meeting notes or handling tedious but important duties that contribute to the team’s success.
I also recommend regularly updating the Team Working Agreement as the team evolves. Over time, as roles become clearer and team members identify areas for improvement, adjusting the agreement will ensure that it stays relevant and promotes continued collaboration. This process helps maintain accuracy and fosters harmony within the team, especially when something needs to be refined or removed entirely.
Working on my senior thesis capstone project I can implement the roles and responsibilities play. This play will help my classmates and I understand each member’s contributions and ensure we are aligned with our goals. By defining these roles early, we can avoid misunderstandings and improve our efficiency.
When working in group/ team, in order to obtain unanimous opinions, to me Working Agreement is crucially important. Because it shapes the way the project making progress and whether the group/team experience workload or stress from conflic during their teamworking period
My team and I have worked together in a rather stable state for many years. Over this time, our roles and responsibilities have managed to become less defined and more shared. I believe if we run the Roles and Responsibilities Play together with the Team Poster Play we should be able to help identify who is doing what, and how we expect those tasks to be completed. Over time we have managed to become accustomed to how individuals work but have not maintained consistency between those individuals in respect to our role. This does cause friction which can be addressed with these Plays.
