Unlock stress-free time-off with the Atlassian Out-of-Office Playbook

Why distributed teams also deserve downtime.png

Hi Teamwork Collection community!

As summer wraps up and the days get a little shorter, I’ve been thinking about how we all handle taking time off. Be honest… did your out-of-office (OOO) plans actually let you unplug, or did you sneak a peek at Slack when you promised yourself you wouldn’t?

If you’re like me and want to make your next break as restful and rejuvenating as possible (especially with the holidays coming up), here’s something that might help: The Atlassian Out-of-Office Playbook

What’s inside?

  • Tips that actually help you (and your team) switch off
  • Real-world examples for managing time-off from Atlassian teams
  • Templates and checklists to make OOO planning much easier
  • Advice for leaders who want to set a good example about taking time off and foster a culture that values rest

A couple of teasers:

  • Ever come back from vacation to a mountain of chaos? The Playbook shares some simple habits Atlassians use to make sure handoffs are smooth and nobody’s left scrambling.
  • Think you’re too busy to take a real break? There’s a section on how planning ahead can actually make your team happier and taking time off can make your team more productive.

Ready to recharge?

Give the Playbook a read, pass it along to your team, and let’s make time-off something we can all look forward to (and return from, refreshed).

Have your own OOO tips or stories? Drop them in the comments! I’d love to hear how you make it possible to make the most of your downtime.

It'd be great if the products had more native capabilities for managing OOO rather than needing to purchase Marketplace apps or building automation-based workarounds. JSD/JSM's been out since 2013 and there's still not a simple native solution for approvers to delegate their approvals to others while they're OOO...
