On our management server (used by several members of our dev team), I was intending to update Sourcetree 3.4.10 to 3.4.11
I logged in as an administrator, downloaded and installed 3.4.11 but after the installation I got 2 shortcuts on my desktop: one to version 3.4.10 and the other to version 3.4.11
I also noticed that 3.4.10 was installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Atlassian\Sourcetree but the newer version was installed at C:\Users\wilfred_admin\AppData\Local\SourceTree. It looks like this was an installation for me only? The documentation for updating sourcetree is very poor (sorry)
How do I update Sourcetree so that everybody has only the new version available with the current shortcut? (by overwriting the code in program files)
I think I found the reason for this situation: The initial installation was done with an Enterprise version, this installs in "c:\program files ...." The update I downloaded was the free version, which resulted in a duplicate installation.
So I have to check for enterprise updates ...
Hope this is valuable for somebody else!
The installation location for Sourcetree Enterprise version is: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Atlassian\Sourcetree\SourceTree.exe"
Whereas user specific installation location for Sourcetree is: "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\SourceTree\SourceTree.exe"
