Why sourcetree's default localization is japanese? And how to change it?

SourceTree gets this from your system settings. System Preferences > Language & Text - Japanese must be higher in the list than either English or French.

If you want to change the language just for SourceTree and not alter your system setting, then go into SourceTree's Preferences and change the Language setting to the language of your choice. It defaults to 'Automatic' which means it uses the system setting.

What is your system locale set to? As far as I know it picks up the system locale.
