Why do some folders in REMOTES not sort properly?

In the REMOTES section of Sourcetree, my team has an origin with several folders shown beneath it. We have a folder, for example, for each Fiscal Year of our contract and these folders have the various enhancement branches in them for that year.

All of these folders sort properly... except one. We have folders named FY22, FY23, a few other folders and branches (all sorted properly), and then at the bottom is the folder FY21.

Why does FY21 sort to the bottom, below our StagingBranch?

Hi @K. David Ladage

Welcome to the Atlassian community!

I would start by checking if FY21 actually exists as a branch at the same level as your folders, rather than being a folder itself. Sourcetree sometimes displays branches and folder structures differently depending on how they're named on the remote.

Here's what I'd investigate: look at the full reference paths for FY21, FY22, and FY23. If FY21 is origin/FY21 while the others are origin/some-folder/FY22, then it would sort separately. The REMOTES view groups by folder structure first, so direct branches on origin sort differently from branches nested in folder paths.

Cheers, Martin
