After the github update this year (2023), I have been unable to push to a repo. I've often experienced complications setting up github access in SourceTree, but now this does not work at all.
I've followed a number of threads on this forum and on StackOverflow on how to login using SSH / OAuth. Adding an Authentication account with OAuth verifies via the browser fine, but then pushing fails: 'Support for password authentication was removed'.
Adding my private SSH github key in putty agent works fine as well, but does not help. I've also tried using OpenSSH using a corresponding formatted exported key, checked local .ssh folder etc.
Adding an Authentication account using a Personal Access Token I created on github (setting PAT as password) does not work (login error). Adding this via Windows Credentials Manager works, but this turns up in SourceTree as two 'Basic' type authentication accounts. Push fails.
I feel a lot of online help is outdated after the github changes.
Is there an up-to-date guide on how to add github/SSH account to SourceTree? I really prefer this over Github Desktop, though the latter has no setting up issues.
