Unable to create remote repository through sourcetree

Hello there,

I am using macOS Catalina Version 10.15.5, and Sourcetree version 4.0.1 (234). I am trying to create remote repositories in GitHub through Sourcetree but am receiving the following error:

Create Repository Failed

An error occurred while trying to create the repository. Please try again.

Error Contents:

message: Not Found

https://developer.github.com/v3/repos/#create

I have attempted removing my account, clearing all related keychains and adding my account again to no success, I have tried using a personal access token to sign into my account which does not work either.

The only way I can create a remote repository is through the GitHub website directly, upon doing which it will appear under the "Remote" tab in SourceTree.

Please advise.

I get a different error, about not having the right permissions. It looks like when the app connects with OAuth it only requests public read permissions, so it doesn't have the required ones to create repos? I have seen reports of this going back to version 3, so it seems there is no will or desire to fix it. Very sad. Why even have the feature available if it isn't going to work?
