I have 2 main client based repositories, each with several repositories of different projects.
I already grouped them inside repositories bookmarks, which helps, but it would be even better if I could switch between the 2 groups and get all the repositories opened (closed) in the opened tabs, similar as netbeans uses groups.

Welcome to the Atlassian community!
Sourcetree does not have a native workspace or session switching feature like NetBeans project groups, so what you are describing is not currently possible out of the box.
The closest workaround I know of is to use separate Sourcetree windows, one per client. You can open a new window via File > New Tab or by launching a second Sourcetree instance, and manually arrange which repositories are open in each. It is not the same as a one-click group switch, but it does give you some visual separation between clients.
If this is something you would find valuable, I would suggest submitting it as a feature request at https://jira.atlassian.com/projects/SRCTREE so it can be voted on.
Cheers, Martin
