I am unable to register my account using an API Token in Sourcetree version 4.2.17 on macOS.
The "Save" button remains completely grayed out/disabled, making it impossible to proceed with the registration setup.
Interestingly, this exact same setup and token work perfectly fine on Windows.
What could be the reason for this issue on Mac, and how can I fix it?
Hey guys,
Here's a bug report for this: SRCTREE-8271: Save button remains disabled when registering account with API token
I'd suggest leaving a vote and setting yourself as a watcher to receive updates about any news.

Hi,
Thank you for reporting this — I understand how frustrating it must be when the Save button won't activate.
Based on the behavior described, the Save button is enabled only when all required fields pass validation. For Bitbucket accounts using API Token authentication, please ensure that:
The username field contains a valid email address (e.g., user@example.com). Formats like user without the domain will prevent the form from validating — this is a common gotcha, especially since Windows may be more lenient here.
The API Token field is not empty.
The authentication type is set to API Token.
If any of these fields don't meet the expected format, the Save button will remain disabled without showing an explicit error — which we acknowledge isn't the most helpful UX.
Thank You!

Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. :)
The same API token is registered successfully in the Windows environment, but on this environment the button does not become active. Because of this, I was unable to find any error code or message that could help identify the cause.
Could you please check the attached screenshot?

Hi @Pedro Mayo
Have you tried the solutions mentioned here by Tobi and Pratap?

Hey @허지수 ,
This is typically the case when you're using some incorrect formatted field in the account setup dialog.
Can you try following these steps: https://community.atlassian.com/forums/Sourcetree-questions/Unsure-how-to-use-the-API-password-with-sourcetree/qaa-p/3184506#M46897?
I don't have Mac, so I cannot test this out 🫤
Interestingly, you're saying the same thing worked on Windows and not here 👀
I think Mac does have something like Keychain Access where you can check stored credentials.
Have you tried using SSH authentication/key instead of API token? You should be able to generate a key within Sourcetree.
Cheers,
Tobi
