Please make the "commit merged changes immediately" checkbox agree with the setting in the config files! (SourceTree)

I want to be able to uncheck this option at install time by setting the value of  "GitCommitMergedChangesImmediately" to 'False' in the 'SourceTree.exe.config' file immediately after installation. Even if I change the setting after installation manually SourceTree ignores it! I can do this with the "Create a new commit even if fast-forward is possible" setting! I don't want developers to have to remember to uncheck this setting, and it has to be unchecked for our development process. It's not even sticky, as is suggested in https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/SRCTREE-1384 . We are currently using version 1.6.23, but I have checked the latest version - 1.8.2.11 and the behaviour is the same .

We are now in SourceTree 1.10.23.1 but this issue is still here ='(
