I'm setting up a repository with a .gitignore file taken from the GitHub/gitignore repository. Sourcetree is accessing it as desired when I open it from within the repository settings, but files which I expect to be ignored are still being staged, and presumably be committed. Can Sourcetree use existing .gitignore files or do ignores need to be set from within Sourcetree itself?
Hi @John Dooley,
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
Did your repository already contain the files that you want to ignore?
Hi Mikael,
I had a fresh look at it last night and realised that my repository was structured differently to what the template was expecting. After I added in the additional folder level, Sourcetree was able to ignore without any issues.
John
