The list view on the left constantly changes focus, I fight it CONSTANTLY. I am looking at stashes and it jumps back to the selected item. I change branches and it jumps back to the old branch name. Does this not happen to other people? After years, I am abandoning sourcetree because it's a nightmare

I think if you're on one project for a while the window will fill up and that's when it becomes a nightmare. No matter where it jumps now, all your branches are probably visible
