Bitbucket, sourcetree and cryptography

Ian Benson
September 6, 2021

Hello,

1) If the bitbucket server is set up for SSL (HTTPS) access only, will cryptography be used in passing on credentials from a sourcetree client session to the server? If so, what standard of cryptography e.g TLS 1.* (I understand the version will be dependent on the version of Bitbucket and Sourcetree.  Is there documentation on which versions support what?)

2) Does sourcetree establish a session on bitbucket which is subject to the bitbucket timeout policy, or does sourcetree work on a per transaction / momentary basis with disconnections after each operation?

3) would a straightforward Git client command interface work on the same basis as sourcetree from a security perspective?

Many Thanks.
