BUG: SourceTree: Basic Authentication fails

SourceTree version 3.4.4 (happened in an earlier version as well)

The username and pwd are correct. If I use a bogus pwd, I get the same result.

If I use a bogus username and pwd (test, test) I get:

which would be correct response.

 

This appears to be a bug, if not how do we get around this issue?
