Hi @Joe Lupfer

Welcome to the Atlassian community!

Did the steps from Tobi’s first comment solve the problem, or has the behavior changed at all since then?

  • I wanted to note that security software might also flag the quick background processes as suspicious. You can try adding exceptions for your Sourcetree and Git installation directories.
  • A corrupted composition.cache file might also cause this issue. If other options fail, try closing Sourcetree, then locate and delete the version files to trigger a fresh UI rebuild.

Hey @Joe Lupfer ,

This might be due to an issue with the underlying Git executable or a conflict within the Windows environment.

You could try:

  • Update system Git
  • Switch Git versionsIn Sourcetree, go to Tools > Options > Git. Try switching between the Embedded Git and System Git to see if one resolves the error.

You could try to reinstall Sourcetree (or just update it to the latest version), and check if maybe antivirus or other security tools are, for some reason, blocking sh.exe from executing 🤔
(You could temporarily disable such tools and see if you'll still experience this).

Cheers,
Tobi
