In relevance to Understand data residency | Atlassian Support what exactly is "AI data"?
I can't find any definitions or further understanding to what this term means.
An official answer/resource would be great, as this is for company data compliance. We can't attest to data being held in a region for a platform when there is no definition of the terms used (in this case, "AI data").
*Given the lack of Atlassian response, I will instead raise a support case, however, this is disappointing and a prime reason why compliance and accountability for AI data is such a concern.
@Phillip C “AI data” refers to the content sent to Atlassian’s AI features for processing—your prompts, retrieved context, and the model’s intermediate inputs/outputs. It doesn’t include training data, and it isn’t used to train Atlassian’s models. Residency applies to this runtime data while the feature processes your request. For authoritative details, Atlassian Support can confirm region-specific handling.
Hi @Phillip C , thanks for your post.
I am going to flag this to Atlassian so they can respond to you here.
Best wishes
