Using Story points in Rovo

Lukas Kovac
March 3, 2026

Hi, i would like to use field Story Points in Rovo, for example this prompt, but it always ends with response, that Rovo has no access to this field. Is there any way to set up fields, that can be used by Rovo? Thank you..

I am planning our next sprint and I am trying to estimate our work load. List all the story points of the following issues [list of Jira issues]. Show the results in a table and calculate the total story points.

Hi @Lukas Kovac

It seems that Rovo can't access the Story Point field, see also this open bug: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/ROVO-512

ROVO-512 doesn’t apply here because that ticket relates to specific limitations or bugs in how Rovo retrieves certain Jira fields, whereas this question is about access/configuration and indexing of Story Points.

In this case, Rovo can work with Story Points (a standard field), so the issue is more likely permissions, field context, or indexing, not a known product limitation covered by ROVO-512.

Hey @Lukas Kovac Rovo can access standard Jira fields like Story Points, but only if they’re properly indexed and visible in your instance. If it says it has no access, it’s usually due to permissions, field context (e.g., not on those issue types), or indexing delays. Also, results can vary by rollout. Make sure the field is populated, visible, and accessible to your user, then try again.

I guess the reason Rovo cannot access Story Points is that it does not have access to all custom fields, especially project-scoped or agile-specific ones. At the moment, there is no way to manually expose individual fields to Rovo as far as I know. I had the same issue with a custom field.

You may want to verify whether Story Points is a global custom field and properly configured in the project. Otherwise, using JQL, dashboards, or Atlassian Analytics would be the more reliable approach for summing story points.
