Rovo couldn't read the context automatically

Subject: Rovo ignores chat Context panel (Jira card present) and asks for ticket key again

Product: Atlassian Intelligence (Rovo)

Description:

In the Rovo chat, when a Jira ticket is present in the visible Context panel (the pill displayed directly under the message composer), Rovo still asks the user to provide a ticket key/URL and proceeds as if no context exists.

Steps to Reproduce:

Open a Rovo chat.

Ensure the chat's Context panel contains a Jira issue (e.g., "EK-11999 (Staging - Mobile)").

Ask a question that depends on the ticket (e.g., "rovo bu ticket tam olarak ne istiyor?").

Observe Rovo asking for the ticket key/URL instead of using the existing Context.

Actual: Rovo replies with a request for ticket key/URL and claims no ticket reference is visible.

Expected: Rovo should read and use the Context panel automatically, extract the ticket key, and answer directly without requesting it again.

Frequency: Repeated — happened at least 3 times in recent chats, reproduced again in the latest thread.

Impact: Unnecessary back-and-forth, slower triage/support flow, reduced trust in the assistant.

Evidence: Screenshot attached (image1.png) — shows "Context: EK-11999 (Staging - Mobile)" visible while Rovo asks for ticket key.image1.png

Hi @Bayram Uluad - welcome to the Community,

Unfortunately, or rather fortunately, I cannot reproduce that behaviour. I can see that you are on a relatively new release and the context is set..

Is that a newly created ticket? or one that has been created a while ago? maybe an index issue?...

If you give the work item key in the original question, will Rovo give out the correct information?

Previously, when I asked Rovo a question while inside a ticket, that ticket would appear in the context by default, and Rovo would immediately understand and answer my questions related to that ticket. However, it doesn't see the context. Naturally, I expect the same behavior. When I open a random ticket, it still appears in the context, but with every question, it says, "Which ticket are you referring to? My context is empty." Then I send it a screenshot showing that the context is already attached, and it apologizes and starts recognizing and responding to my questions. Otherwise, it doesn't recognize it when the context is full. It wasn't like this before. Looking at the records, I realized that our last successful conversation like this was about two weeks ago. I want to share a video with you. https://www.loom.com/share/b9d9a78958114bcf9a467345f4561d2d

Hey @Bayram Uluad

thanks for the Loom - that's really helpful!

Have you tried a simple prompt like "Summarize this work item"?

I suspect that saying "the context attached" triggers a skill where Rovo looks at the attachments in the current work item? Rather than looking at the work item itself

Things like

  • Hello Rovo
  • Thank you Rovo
  • please
  • etc.

are not necessary and may clutter the prompt.

Thanks Rebekka. It works now. I think it was not about the prompt. There was a problem on context but it seems fixed. Thanks for your help. We can close that discussion.
