Rovo archives page without permission and is unaware of the change

I ran into a worrying issue using the Atlassian Intelligence assistant to make very small, targeted edits to a Confluence Cloud page.

  • I asked the assistant to make surgical, content-only changes to a PRD (minor table edits, wording tweaks), explicitly not touching page structure or location.

  • The assistant described the planned changes and, after I clicked its confirmation prompt, responded with “Processed successfully.”

  • Immediately after refreshing the page:

    • The page no longer appeared under its original folder in the space’s page tree (a “Product Requirement Documents” section).

    • In the UI it effectively looked orphaned / archived relative to that folder.

  • At the same time:

    • The page content now reflects the edited state.

    • When I asked the assistant what happened, it:

      • Could not see or explain any move/archive/parent change,

      • Gave explanations inconsistent with what I see in the actual document (e.g., talking as if some edits had not applied).

From my perspective, this looks like:

  • An AI operation that:

    • Reports success,

    • Results in the page no longer being where it was in the space tree,

    • And leaves the assistant unable to surface a clear, auditable record of what structural changes (if any) it actually made.

Why I’m concerned:

  • I only requested content tweaks, but the page’s placement in the space changed around the same time as the AI action.

  • The assistant’s own “view” of the page state seems out of sync with what Confluence is actually showing me.

  • There’s no obvious, user-visible audit trail from the AI describing: “I changed these fields and also moved/archived this page.”

Hi @Shane Lacey - welcome to the Community,

the User Confirmation Buttons like "Create" "Insert into Page" "Replace" etc. represent the respective API calls. So i think it unlikely that Rovo would move/archive pages when the user has not confirmed that action.

Confluence doesn't log content reordering or moving.

But: it's a software and Bugs are not out of the ordinary. We've not seen similar behaviour mentioned here on this Community yet and I've not seen anything myself. Have you opened a Support Request at support.atlassian.com?

Hey @Shane Lacey while it’s unlikely Rovo intentionally moved/archived the page, what you’re describing aligns with how Confluence handles parent/ancestor changes—a page can appear “missing” if its parent changed or was removed. Also, Rovo doesn’t always have full visibility into structural metadata after actions, so its explanation can lag behind actual state. Definitely worth checking page history/parent and raising with support, as this could be a bug.
