Hi all,
I feel like I'm going insane, with Claude Code:
I just want to capture:
In the current active sprint: a summary of the work, grouped by parent.
And then for the next active sprint, based on the end date of the existing sprint and the start date of the next one: A summary of the planned work, grouped by parent.
Every time I attempt this, the Atlassian MCP times out.
What am I doing wrong?
Hey @David Gerrard ,
You can ask this question in the following discussion group: Atlassian Rovo MCP Server
Probably someone will be able to chime in there.
I'll also move this to the Rovo Q&A forum.
Cheers,
Tobi

Thanks @Tomislav Tobijas for the moooove. @David Gerrard this is probably not just you. Atlassian’s MCP docs say that when nothing happens or results are partial, common causes are auth/session expiry, missing scopes, or permissions, and they recommend re-authenticating and checking logs. For your query specifically, try breaking it into smaller steps instead of one big ask:
There are also recent reports of inconsistent MCP timeouts in Claude Code, so this may be partly a platform issue, not your prompt.

Yes, I've got it set up as granular as possible, asking it to only pull the parent & description fields, only the single sprint at a time, grouped by parent, etc.
Ironically the MCP seems much better at the tricky bit (writing) than the simple bit (reading).
I have got it working now, but it takes ages.
