Hi JIRA Support Team,

We would like to report an issue encountered while creating a user story using the Atlassian Rovo Connector integrated with Claude.ai.

Despite having verified that the "Create Issue" permission is correctly granted to the System Administrator account used for connecting Claude.ai, we are unable to successfully create user stories through the integration.

Here are the details of the issue:

Integration: Atlassian Rovo Connector with Claude.ai
Action: Attempting to create a user story
Permission Check: "Create Issue" permission is enabled for the System Administrator role
Issue: User story creation fails or does not complete as expected

We have already validated the permission settings and confirmed that the account being used has the necessary access. However, the issue persists.

Could you please assist us in identifying the root cause of this problem and guide us on how to resolve it? If any additional logs, configurations, or details are required, we would be happy to provide them.

Thank you for your support.

Regards,

Harshit Varshney

Welcome to the community Harshit @JIRA ADMIN  This usually isn’t just a permission issue. With the Rovo MCP/Claude setup, if you’re only seeing read-only tools or failed creates, it’s often due to auth method or scope limitations, not Jira permissions.

A few things to check:

  • Ensure you’re using Basic auth (email + API token), not Bearer
  • Confirm MCP has write-capable tools enabled (not just read-only)
  • Verify the request type/fields required aren’t blocking creation

If it still fails, it’s likely an MCP/auth limitation → Atlassian Support.
