How to assign Jira work item to a Service account using Jira Automation

Sai Kishan

Hi !

I am trying to assign a Jira work Item to a Service account as part of a Jira Automation workflow. However, I am unable to find the service account in the Assign Work item option or in the Edit work item fields. The Service account was displayed under the drop-down for assignees within the work item, and I was able to assign it within the work item. I would like to know how to assign the Jira work item to the service account as a part of the Jira Automation workflow.

Thanks again,
Sai

Hi @Sai Kishan

There are a few places in rules which do not allow selection of a service account, such as the rule actor.

I recommend trying these alternatives:

Kind regards,

To add to that: A Service Account cannot be set as Rule Actor anywhere - UI nor API.

However, as Service Accounts are available as assignees via the UI, I'd second to try the alternatives. You can find the Account ID when you open the Service Account in the Admin UI. The ID will be the last part of the URL e.g.

Thank you @Bill Sheboy  I was able to do it using JSON expression. I appreciate your quick response.
