I am trying to understand why Rovo's CLI feels significantly behind other tools in the space, even in the most basic aspects. Here are some issues I repeatedly encounter:
1. Ctrl+C behavior
Pressing Ctrl+C does not just cancel the current request; it terminates the entire session. This forces me to run --restore every time, which slows down the workflow.
2. New line handling
Shift+Enter does not insert a new line. Only using backslash + Enter works, which feels unintuitive and disrupts natural typing patterns.
3. Missing models
Some newer and widely available models are missing, putting the CLI behind its competitors in terms of model support.
4. Memory loading issues
Loading memory from files outside the project often fails or appears to be ignored, making the feature unreliable.
5. CLI layout problems
The interface renders heavy vertical borders, which makes copying text difficult. Using a cleaner layout or background based formatting would significantly improve usability.
6. Background processes
Exiting the CLI leaves behind running processes. After several sessions, I often end up with multiple orphaned Rovo processes still running in the background.
7. Missing task control features
A step by step or to do style workflow (similar to Claude's tool execution flow) would be extremely helpful. Being able to see each step, interrupt it, and redirect Rovo to do something different, without restarting the entire process, would drastically improve control and usability.
Overall, the experience currently feels rough, and these issues make the CLI difficult to rely on day to day. I hope these improvements can be prioritized, as the underlying functionality has a lot of potential.
