Smarter agents, less hassle: Meet scenarios for Rovo agents

We’re excited to announce the launch of Scenarios for Rovo Agents—a major step forward in how you design, manage, and scale your agents.

Why Scenarios? The Problem We’re Solving

If you’ve ever tried to build a complex agent, you know the pain: your agent’s prompt gets crazily long, filled with “go to” statements like:

“If someone asks for ___, jump to this section of the prompt ___.”

This approach quickly becomes unmanageable. Instructions balloon in size, logic gets tangled, and it’s hard to know what the agent will actually do in any given situation. Worse, the agent’s reliability drops as instructions become less focused and harder for the agent to interpret.

The Solution: Modular, Composable Scenarios

With Scenarios, you can now break your agent’s logic into smaller, focused modules—each with its own trigger, instructions, knowledge, and actions.

Before:
Your agent prompt got crazily long with effectively “go to” statements in it.
E.g. “If someone asks for ___, jump to this section of the prompt ___.”

After:
For each path you want your agent to take, you can define a scenario and allow your agent to route to it.

This makes it:

  • Easier to build larger, complex agents by composing them from smaller, reusable units.

  • Improves the reliability of agents—instructions are shrunk and more focused, increasing the likelihood of correct task execution.

How It Works

  • Scenarios are optional modules that let you split your agent into multiple, focused behaviors:

    • IF <the user asks this>

    • THEN <do this – using these knowledge sources and actions>

  • Each scenario has a trigger (what the agent was prompted with), its own instructions, knowledge, and actions.

  • All existing agents will automatically migrate to a “Default Scenario” (your ELSE case), so nothing breaks for current agents.

A new Behavior field lets you set the overall tone or style for your agent, applied across all scenarios (you set this in the Identity tab).

Why This Matters

  • Greater flexibility: You can create agents that address a wider range of tasks and requirements.

  • Simplified management: Scenarios make it easier to organize, debug, and fine-tune agent behavior.

  • Consistent performance: Structured scenarios help maintain reliable and relevant agent responses.

Ready to get started?
Open your agent in Studio and explore the new Scenarios section. We can’t wait to see what you build!

P.S. This is currently rolling out progressively, everyone should have access by end of next week (October 3rd)!

We value your input and want to ensure you have the best experience with Rovo agents and scenarios. If you encounter any issues, have suggestions, or need assistance, please reach out!
