My first test run with Rovo

Hi all,

I just wanted to share my first impressions with Rovo with you.

I have just started to play around with Rovo and set up a PoC for a customer where we have moved a lot of documentation from various sources to Confluence. Nothing has been rigged or prepared for Rovo to be able to consume the information in a intelligent way. No bookmarks or prompts was used, no connectors, not anything. 

I activated Rovo in my sandbox environment and thought “let's see what you got.. ” cracks cnuckles “

I open up Rovo Search and ask this simple but very specific question “How is the calculation done for this type of pension”.

After about 5 seconds I get an answer explaining what this specific type of pension is, what type of employees that normally gets it and what parameters affects the calculation.

I must say I was a bit impressed and wanted to check the sources for this answer. I clicked on the link in Rovo search, and here is where it got really interesting.

The source was a Word document containing the business rules for the calculation. The document was added as an attachment to a Confluence page! (this would take me a good hour to find)

Alllrighty Rovo… 1-0. Let’s step it up a notch.. stretches neck and open Rovo chat

“How does this affect me if I am 61 years and 9 months old..” (I am not if you are wondering)

I got a very detailed answer starting with “If you are 61 years and 9 months old you have 39 months left before retirement….” Rovo then explained what specific rules applies at that age and gave me an example based on a yearly salary and a hypothetical pay raise and what the result would be for me.

I then asked Rovo to explain a specific term that affects the calculation and got a detailed explanation of what the term means, what type of reimbursements is included and what’s not.

Ok Rovo, 2-0, I am getting really impressed now!

I played around asking more details and Rovo continued to propose additional scenarios I might be interested in (different salaries and intervals, pay raises, irregular incomes etc) things i hadn’t even thought of myself.

Finally I asked Rovo “Who can I ask if I wan’t more information about this?”

Rovo thought a while and then answered “I can not find a specific person responsible for this but you can contact THIS company. Here is the phone number and email to the customer service. Do you want me to help you create a email?”
