We’re excited to introduce a powerful new capability for agent builders and teams: Deep Research in Rovo Agents! Now, your custom agents can deliver richer, more reliable research—tailored to your needs, your knowledge sources, and your workflow.

Why Deep Research?

Ever wished your agent could go beyond quick answers and deliver a comprehensive, well-structured research report? Or maybe you want your agent to pull insights from only the sources you trust, and then format the results exactly how your team needs them? With Deep Research, that’s now possible—right inside your Rovo Agents.

What’s New?

With Deep Research, you can:

• Customize the Output: Decide exactly how your research results are formatted and presented. Whether you want a battle card, a summary, or a detailed report, your agent can deliver it—every time.

• Choose Your Knowledge Sources: Deep Research only pulls from the sources you specify in your scenario. No more noisy or irrelevant results—just the insights you want.

• Automate Research in Your Workflow: Trigger Deep Research as part of Rovo Agent action in your automated workflows or scheduled processes

• Scenario-Driven Triggers: Enable Deep Research for specific scenarios, so you control when and how the research is performed. (Note: Deep Research is available for custom scenarios only.)

How Does It Work?

1. Configure Your Scenario: In Rovo Studio, toggle Deep Research on for any custom scenario. Set your instructions, and knowledge sources.

2. Let the Agent Do the Heavy Lifting: When triggered, your agent plans, searches, and synthesizes information—using only the sources you’ve allowed.

3. Get Tailored Results: The agent applies your formatting and instructions, using only the knowledge sources you configured, delivering a research report that fits your workflow.

What Makes This Different?

• Customizable Output: Shape the research report to fit your team’s needs.

• Source Control: Only the knowledge you trust, every time.

• Workflow Integration: Automate research, formatting, and follow-up actions.

• Separation of Research and Response: Keep your research logic clean and your output consistent.

Limitations & Notes

• Custom Scenarios Only: Deep Research is available for custom scenarios, not the default scenario.

• Scenario-Configured: Deep Research is enabled at the scenario level and cannot be toggled by users per chat message.

• Daily Rate Limit: Each user can make up to 30 Deep Research requests per day.

• Automation Timeout: If a Rovo Agent takes more than 15 minutes to complete Deep Research, the automation will time out. There are active development work to improve this.

• No Customization of Research Planning: The way Deep Research generates and iterates on its research plan is not currently configurable.
