just getting started with Jira any pointers on smooth reporting and app usage are very welcomed!!!!!!

  1. Think about the challenges you want to overcome, and the Community can help you find ways to solve those problems.
  2. Search the forums for keywords or specific tools you're curious about. It's possible someone has asked the same question before!

Here is the most important question (IMHO).

  1. Are you starting with a blank slate?
  2. Or are you picking up where the last Admnistrator Stopped?

If it's "#1" ... then follow the training as suggested.

If it's "#2", trying to figure out where things stand, shoot me an email and I'll spend an hour or so with you (no charge) and we will push past the fluff to see whats there (using the Free REST API).

 

I've had 1/2 dozen clients in the past 12 months and the conversation has started the same each time - We started setting JIRA up ourselves and now have no idea what we've done.

Welcome @Derrick Walton ! Best off-the-cuff advice I can give is to keep engaging with the system and community.

Even if you're used other work management/ticketing systems the concepts/ideas/etc. that Jira uses can be different enough to be confusing (or worse :D).

Make some time regularly to explore the system and keep track of your questions - then start asking around for help.
