Tuesday Jira Vibes - what Jira feature you wish you knew before?

Jira Tuesday Vibes 7.png

Happy Wednesday on Tuesday Jira Vibes, New-To-Jira folks! 👋

Have you ever stumbled on a Jira feature and thought: “Wait… how have I survived without this before?”

Well, for me it happened and happens from time to time… One tiny discovery, and suddenly your daily workflow feels 10x smoother. As it’s impossible to know everything, right?

In my case, those moments usually come from Jira’s “hidden gems”... the things nobody really explains during onboarding, but once you find them, you can’t unsee them.

I don’t remember which was the first thing that made me think “Wow, this is cool! Why didn’t I know this?” Maybe, filters - they made my life much easier a long time ago :)

However, it could be anything - keyboard shortcuts, automation rules that can quietly handle assignments, transitions, or notifications while you focus on real work, JQL, issue links, the list can be really long and depend on every Jira user's focus and experience.

So now I’m curious 👇

What’s one Jira feature you wish you had discovered earlier and why? Was it a small quality-of-life improvement or a total workflow game changer?

Share your experience. Your “late discovery” might be exactly what someone else needs right now 😉

I worked with Jira for 4 years before I learned that I could create a custom dashboard. That changed my world. In fact, it was a key element of the training sessions I later delivered because everybody needs to know how to work smarter with Jira and quickly find what they need to know.

Great question, @Daria Kulikova_GitProtect_io ! One of my favorite "discoveries" was that workflow rules and properties can save a ton of time (and automations) for things like auto-assigning upon ticket creation and setting standard Resolutions. When I was first starting with JSM, I was a bit afraid of looking "under the hood" with workflows but now I love transition rules and properties. Using them in a standardized way has also made troubleshooting and maintenance easier.
