Hello, New-to-Jira Community and Agile-curious people! 👋
Let’s discuss this Tuesday, one of the most classic team debates - Kanban or Scrum.
Are there any wars between those who like Kanban and those who prefer Scrum? I would say no, tastes differ.
Some people like coffee, and some can’t live without tea, or it’s like dark mode users vs light mode users. Everything depends… and the key factor here is which way makes you more productive - at least it’s my opinion :)
Scrum? It is that very organized friend who loves calendars.
You’ve got sprints, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retros - everything has a name, a time slot, and a purpose. Scrum works great when teams like structure, predictability, and clear commitments. Two weeks. Fixed scope. Let’s sprint as we mean it 🏃♀️
But sometimes… it can feel like the process itself needs a backlog item.
Kanban, on the other hand, is the chill realist. No sprints. No overload. Just a clear board, work-in-progress limits, and one golden rule: finish what you started before grabbing more. It’s all about flow, visibility, and continuous delivery. Things move when they’re ready — not because the sprint clock is ticking ⏱️
And yes, this is where I can proudly raise my hand: I’m Team Kanban 🙋♀️ Why? Because life (and work) is rarely sprint-shaped. Priorities change. Urgent things pop up. Kanban helps me adapt.
So now I’m curious 👇
Which team are you on — Kanban or Scrum? And more importantly: why? Share your experience, your frustrations, or your “I tried both” stories.
P.S. Don’t forget to check out other Tuesday-Jira-Vibes discussions!
Definitely Kanban with my team. We don't get to schedule a lot of our tasks, and so we just want the view of what's currently in progress and what we're expecting.
I guess I’m living a hybrid life. 😄 Scrum at work: we sprint, we plan, we retro. But at home? Pure Kanban vibes like @Bernandina Ortiz. One board, WIP limits, and please finish one thing before starting three more. 🙈
