Hello, New-to-Jira community! 👋
Have you ever received a feature request that looked something like this?
“Customers really need dark mode. Can we add it?”
Great idea… but what exactly are we supposed to do with it? 😅
If you work with Product, Sales, Customer Success, Support, or other teams, you might have seen this before. Someone has an idea, creates a Jira work item, and then… a lot of questions begin appearing:
Why do we need this? Who is asking for it? How many customers are affected? What problem does it solve? What is the expected impact? ... etc.
And suddenly, a simple request turns into a long chain of back-and-forth messages.
This is where Jira Forms can help!💡
Instead of asking your teammates to figure out what information you need, create a Form that guides them through the right questions from the very beginning.
How to create one?
Easy!
1️⃣ Find the Forms option in your Jira space.
2️⃣ Click “Create form.”
3️⃣ Choose the work type you want the Form to create, for example, an Epic, Task, Story, or Bug.
4️⃣ Add the information you need to collect.
Think about what your team needs to know before they can start working on the request. And if a particular field is critical, don't forget to make it required.
5️⃣ Need something that isn't there? Create an additional field that fits your process.
6️⃣ Preview your Form.
Make sure the questions make sense, the required fields work as expected, and the Form is easy for your teammates to complete.
And that's it! 🎉
For me, that's where Forms can really make a difference, as they aren't just about creating nicer-looking requests. They can help teams standardize information, reduce back-and-forth, and make sure the right details enter Jira from the start.
Now I'm curious about your experience! :)
Have you ever created a Jira Form? (maybe because your team was tired of chasing people for missing information? :) )
