Making a field required for a board but not the whole project

Hello - 

I have several boards in a project.  In one of the boards, I see the value add for making the component a required field.  

Is it possible to make a field required on the board level but not the project level?

Boards are a view of a set of issues, not a container or configuration point for them.

So, you can't do this.   A field is made mandatory or optional by the project and issue type, not board.  (It wouldn't make sense to do it by board - why should team 1 have to fill something in when team 2 doesn't?)
