🚀 Getting Started with Jira: Community-Led Classes

🎉 Welcome, new Jira users! A quick path from “What does this button do?” to “I’ve got this” starts with our Community-Led Classes—free, live, and run by Atlassian Champions.

đź‘‹ Why join Community-Led Classes?

  • Learn Jira hands-on: Live demos, real workflows, and practical tips you can apply immediately.

  • Ask questions, get answers: Instructors are seasoned Jira users who’ve likely solved the problems you’re facing, and will often take the time to engage with your questions during these classes in real time.

  • Beginner-friendly (and beyond): Whether you’re new to projects, boards, issues, or automation, there’s a session for you.

  • Free and frequent: Sessions run regularly across time zones—RSVP and join from anywhere.

🚀 A suggested path for brand-new Jira users

  • Solidify your understanding of Jira by watching a short intro video: Atlassian Answered: What is Jira?
  • Begin with a Jira fundamentals session: Learn projects, issues, boards, and basic navigation. You can also check out our on-demand course catalogue here.

  • Add power with deeper dives into topics such as JQL, automations, workflows, and dashboards.

  • Have fun! Engage in the live chats with our instructors and other Jira users. This is a great chance build your professional networks and meet peers in your industry who are also using Jira to get work done.

The types of classes you can expect:

  • Jira 101 and foundational sessions for brand-new users

  • Focused deep dives (JQL, forms, automation, dashboards, workflows)

  • Admin study groups and certification prep

  • Live clinics to troubleshoot your Jira and other Atlassian-related questions

📆 How to save your spot:

  • Check out the events list to see what's currently on deck. Bookmark the page to catch new courses added daily!

  • Choose a topic, date, and time that works for you and click that RSVP button.

  • Add the calendar invite to your agenda, share it with your team, and consider a watch party!

    • Pro tip: pair an event watch party with a team walkthrough of how you're all using Jira. It'll help the team standardize practices and build confidence.

đź’ˇGet the most out of each class:

Before the session:

  • Consider how your team currently uses Jira or aspires to use it, along with any team workflows, so class examples resonate more quickly.

  • Prepare 1–2 real questions (e.g., “How do I track blockers across boards?”).
  • Invite teammates who will use the same workflows, boards, or dashboards.

During the session:

  • Follow along in your project if possible!
  • Save helpful shared links, templates, and queries to share with your team later.

After the session:

  • Apply at least one learning within 48 hours (new filter, board tweak, or dashboard gadget).
  • Document your key takeaways in a short Confluence writeup or Slack message for your team.

We hope to see you at some of our upcoming classes! Is there a specific topic you’d love to see covered? Let us know in the comments below! 👇

oh - I can highly recommend (and not just because I run a number of these :D).  These events are a great way to get additional perspective on Atlassian tools from folks who really know how to use them.

Certainly work checking in on what's available on a monthly basis, and many of them are recorded and shared in that ACE so you can re-watch later if you miss one.
