I'm new to the group. I need some basic training on linking reports, filters and the such between Jira and Confluence. Any advise or direction, is appreciated.

Try the atlassian online training, much of it is free. the certification prep courses are excellent, but you have to pay for the exam first. My company provides in-depth Jira training, but that is probably overkill for what you need.
