how do i make a full screen-full face video.

i need to make a full screen video of just me talking. How do i do this so im not a bubble or box inside the desktop view?

Totally get it — the default "Screen + Cam" mode puts you in that little bubble, which isn't what you want when it's just you presenting to camera.

Here's how to switch to camera-only mode:

1. Open the Loom desktop app (or the Chrome extension) and click New Recording.
2. On the recording options panel, look at the top where it says Screen + Cam, Screen Only, or Cam Only. Pick "Cam Only". Don't worry on the preview as  your entire frame is recorded than what is shown in the bubble preview
3. That switches Loom into a pure webcam mode — your face fills the entire frame, no screen share behind it.
4. Hit Start Recording and you're good to go.

thanks - doing this, it says I'm not able to use backgrounds or other effects? Do you know a workaround?

Virtual backgrounds and effects only run in Screen + Camera mode today. As soon as you pick Cam Only, Loom switches them off, so there is no hidden toggle you missed. Atlassian documents this and notes that cam-only backgrounds are still on their roadmap.

The recorder you use matters here too, so I would check that first:

• Installed Chrome extension or Desktop app: full effects panel, but only in Screen + Camera.
• Browser recorder with neither installed (the web SDK recorder): no virtual backgrounds or effects at all.

For a workaround, since Loom will not give you a full face frame and a background at the same time, I would apply the background before it reaches Loom. You could set the background with your camera software or a virtual camera tool, then pick that camera as your Camera Source in Loom and record in Cam Only. Loom then sees a clean full-face feed with your background already baked in.

Which recorder are you on right now: the Chrome extension, the Desktop app, or the browser recorder?
