This guide will help you use the self-serve path to move from a Legacy Loom workspace or to consolidate across Atlassian sites, while keeping your content safe and your workflow uninterrupted.
Choose your path: Review the two migration options below, then use the checklist for your scenario.
For users moving from the original Loom platform to a workspace managed within the Atlassian administration system.
Moving from Loom Legacy to an Atlassian-managed workspace is currently a manual process. Please keep the following caveats in mind:
Before you start, keep these caveats in mind:
Content moves for an individual user’s Personal Library only.
Content for the entire workspace or other users will not migrate.
Admins can’t initiate content migrations on behalf of users with this tool.
Spaces and the folders within them won’t transfer.
Videos previously shared in Spaces may no longer appear there, so their previous organisation may be lost.
Ultimately, transitioning to an Atlassian-managed workspace manually is best if you have a critical business need to be in the Atlassian ecosystem right away and feel the effort is worth the immediate benefits. If you prefer a more automated and smooth experience, waiting for the official migration might be the better path.
Step 1: Set up Loom on your new site — Add the Loom app to your new Atlassian site. Follow the setup guide. You'll automatically start with a 14-day Business + AI trial! 💡
Step 2: Add members to the new workspace — As an admin, grant users access to the new Loom product using these access steps.
Step 3: Move videos to the new workspace — Individual members can do this via Personal Settings. Here’s the support article for it -https://support.atlassian.com/loom/docs/transfer-content-between-workspaces
Step 4: Cancel the old subscription — Verify all content is safe, then cancel the old Legacy workspace plan to avoid double-billing.
For users moving Loom between Atlassian cloud sites (for example, during a company merger or site consolidation).
Currently, as we migrate Loom workspaces to the Atlassian platform, a new Atlassian organisation is created for the migrated content. We understand that having multiple organisations isn't always ideal.
While there isn't a "one-click" button to transfer an entire site, you can move your content and subscriptions smoothly by following these steps.
Step 1: Set up Loom on the destination site — The organisation admin can add the Loom app using the setup guide.
Step 4: Upgrade the new site — Select and start your preferred subscription plan on the new Loom app.
Step 2: Move your videos — You can download the videos from your old workspace and upload them to your new Loom workspace. ( If you have a large number of videos, please contact Loom support. We can enable a bulk export option for your workspace so that every individual can export their videos at once.)
Step 3: Manage your subscriptions — Confirm your videos are in the new home, then cancel the old site’s subscription.
