Hi,
In my projects, items move from "Backlog" to "Open " status when they are worked on
I don't want to have the "Backlog" status mapped in my scrum board as then the issues with status backlog can reside in the board and there is no automatic transition to "Open".
if I don't map the items I have no backlog items.
Regards,
Fabian
Hello @fabian.yanofsky
Your board (Active Sprints) will show only the issues assigned to Active Sprints. If a person adds an issue in the status Backlog to a sprint that is currently Active or subsequently started, then that issue will appear on the board.
The list of items in the Backlog section of the Backlog screen in a Company Managed project Scrum board is not based on the status of the issues. The only issues excluded from the Backlog list are ones in the statuses mapped to the farthest right column of the board.
The distinction between the Backlog section and the Sprints sections is based on whether the issue is currently assigned to an Active or Planned sprint.
I assume that you want to be able to add issues in the Backlog status to sprints you are planning. Is that true? Or do you expect the issues to be in the Open status then also?
You could add an Automation Rule to automatically transitions issues from the Backlog status to the Open status when a sprint is started. Here's an example:
You could also add a rule that would detect if an issue is added to an Active sprint and has a status of Backlog, then automatically transition it to Open.

Hello @fabian.yanofsky
In a scrum board one needs to map some status to the Backlog.
It need not be the "Backlog" status but if you remove the mapped status then this really defeats the concept. If I am understanding you correctly.
If there are just to many things in the backlog making your board to busy you can consider using another status like "Selected" and map that to your backlog.

Hi Fabian,
What type of project are you using? Company-managed? Team-managed?
And are you sure you are using a Scrum board? And where do you have the Backlog status mapped to? Can you share some screenshots?

Hi,
Company-managed. Yes . I am sure. The coulmn now is mapped in "Todo" but then sprint can contain items in status backlog.

Oh, take the Backlog status out of Todo and put it to the far right under Unmapped Statuses. You have a built in backlog because it is a Scrum board and you do not need to map that.

Hi,
This is exactly what I have done before but then I don't see the backlog items. (as the status is not recognized)

Now show a screenshot of the the Backlog screen.

Hi.
Only one item is showing (who's status is not backlog). If you remember i have 181 items in status backlog..

What is the filter the board is using? Are there any quick filters in place? How many Sprints have you created in the space above the Backlog? And how many total issues are in those Sprints?

Issues in statuses in the Unmapped Statuses column are excluded from the board and the Backlog screen. If @fabian.yanofsky wants issues in the Backlog status to be available on the Backlog screen, then the status has to be mapped to a board column.
