Hello,
I am using Jira Classic in combination with Big Picture. The bi-directional functionality between Epics and Stories when linked is great. But when i would like to have the same functionalities with Stories and Task, it just doesn't work. In Jira Classic I also can not see how I can create a new task in a story, I only can choose sub-task.
Does anyone have the same problem like me?
Hi @Egli Daniel
The issue you experience is connected with the error that we already fixed. In the coming days, your instance will be upgraded to the latest bugfix version. However, if you want to fix this problem now, please contact SoftwarePlant Support Team support@softwareplant.com referring to SUPPORT-337466 in your request title. We will investigate your case individually.

Hi Anna
It's me Daniel! I have worked now a bit with the new BigPicture and in general i like the new look. But unfortunatly when i create a new Program or when i copy an old program from the previous version, Big Picture get stuck in an initializing loop. Is this a already known bug where you look for a solution?

Dear Anna
Thank you for your response. I did the modification accordingly. Today I wanted test how Jira/BigPicture behaves after the adjustment in the settings. Unfortunately my BigPicture today looks like this:
In the red circle, all the columns are gone and when i want to define them again, as it can be seen in the blue circle BigPicture doesn't find the designated column again.
Is there a quick way to recover those setting?

Hello @Egli Daniel
The reason you don’t see a link type in BigPicture Program Configuration may be caused by the lack of this kind of link type in Jira. Please follow the steps below to create a new link. Go to Jira Administration >> Issues >> Issue linking and create a new link. See my image as a reference.
Once a new link type is created in Jira, it will appear in the list of available structure builders in BigPicture/BigGantt.

Anna

Hello @Egli Daniel
In BigPicture/BigGantt, you can automatically create a no-limited number of WBS levels. Task Structure can be created based on both build-in task attributes (e.g., Epic link, Component, Version, Sprint) as well as links.
Even though stories and tasks are on the same level in Jira, in BigPicture, you can create a hierarchy similar to the one between epic-story.
The first step is to link story and task by, e.g., parent/child link, and then use a selected link as a structure builder in Program Configuration >> Tasks >> Task Structure.
If you have further questions, please let me know.

Dear Anna
Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately i do not have the "Parent to child relations" switch. Is there a quick way to introduce it to BigPicture? See the Pic below..

Stories and sub-tasks do not have the same relationship as Epics and Stories. Stories are gathered together with Epics, and take some data from them. Sub-tasks are a discrete part of a story that you call out for some reason (like wanting to assign it to another person, have a different component or even just because it's easier to work with bits of a story in a reductionist way). Because of the differences, the relationships are done differently.
If you are using "Next Gen" projects, then sub-task is the only available type of, well, sub-task! If you are going to use a "Classic" project, then you can add a type of sub-task, name it Task and then add it into the project's "issue type scheme" to enable the type for that project.
