released item appear in backlog again after changing workflow

Rita Yang August 8, 2018

My backlog used to have only 20 items.

After I change the workflow, now all the done items from released sprint appear in my backlog as selected for development.

Anyone knows how to restore the backlog?

Hi @Rita Yang,

If you have changed your active workflow (what have you changed? Have to add or removed statuses?) and some issues have changed the column, it seems like:

  • You have moved these issues from status --> If this case is true, search theses issues and try to bulk transition them to Done again.
  • The Done status is moved to Selected for development column --> If this case is true, edit your board and, in Column option, move the Done status to Done column.

I changed my workflow two times.

1. Reassign my project to a default workflow

2. edit previous workflow, added production ready

These items in backlog, even I change their status to Done, they still stay in backlog. However, when I change their status to closed or invalid, they disappear from backlog.

I already move fake “selected for development” on active sprint to done。

The problem is with backlog

Hi @Rita Yang,

So, just to understand:

  • You are using a scrum board
  • You changed your active workflow to the default workflow and, in this change, you had to match old statuses to new statuses
  • You edited to inactive worklfow adding some statuses
  • You changed the active default worklfow for the new edited workflow and, in this change, you had to match old statuses to new statuses

With these changes something went wrong and:

  • Some statutes that were set in some columns have been moved to other columns or disabled --> Check if all current statuses in your project are set in the right column.
  • Some issues of the product backlog are not in the initial status and these issues should be in an active sprint, isn't it?

Yes, that is correct.

What went wrong,

  • Some statutes that were set in done have been moved to selected for development --> All these items with wrong status on my active sprint is mannually corrected by me
  • The items which are in "done" status from released version also change to "selected for development". They did not appear in active sprint, They appear in backlog. -->  I want them to disappear from backlog.

I guess you can add those issues into a new sprint, and, afterwards, close this sprint.
