Is it possible to create a dashboard in the cloud jira that uses multiple instances?

Darlene Stroman May 2, 2019

Our company has two different cloud instances of jira.  I need to create a dashboard that uses filters from projects in each of the different instances.  How is this done?  All of the filters are public.

Hi Darlene

I am not sure what information you want to see on dashboard, but I would recommend checking functionality of our addon - WatchTower for Jira. It allows gathering data from multiple Jira sources into one Agile board.

Functionality of dashboards is still in pipeline, so here it would depends on what exactly you be willing to see on a dashboard

I've never tried it, but you *should* be able to create an Application Link (similar process to this doc) between one Confluence instance and many Jira instances (the one from the same Cloud subscription will already be set up.) This will enable you to pull in information from many Jira instances in to your Confluence instance. I'm not sure if you will be able to embed dashboard gadgets in Confluence pages, though. There isn't an option on Cloud to whitelist gadget feeds, which you would need to do. One problem that you introduce by linking multiple Jira instances to one Confluence instance is duplication in the macro browser. You will see 2 "Jira" macros, for example.  You should be able to hover you cursor over each one and look at the URL that it points to, though.

It's worth giving it a try. I don't have access to multiple instances that I can link together to test it out, unfortunately.

Thanks Dave, I will take a look a the document.  One thing to note, I am trying to create Jira Dashboards not confluence.

:D Confluence is great at displaying content from Jira.  This is especially true for users that don't want to get their hands dirty in Jira. I'm not aware of any way to do what you want natively in Jira.  It should be super easy in Confluence, though.
