JIRA Automation and ROVO - Use a Prompt Library in Confluence

Chris Hampshire
April 20, 2026

Hello,

I am trying to use an out of the box ROVO agent within a JIRA automation. I want that JIRA automation to feed the agent a custom prompt. That custom prompt is stored in a confluence page.

I have tried pasting the confluence url but rovo tells me there is no content

Thanks

Hi @Chris Hampshire

can you share the exact setup of the Automation rule?

Can you double check that the Rovo Agent has access to that particular Confluence Page in the Scenario setups?

Thank you for coming back to me @Rebekka Heilmann _viadee_

Broadly, the automation rule set up is

TRIGGER: Manual

THEN: Use Agent (Readiness Checker)

  • Under prompt, I have pasted the confluence link. No smart values

THEN: Add comment with {{agentResponse}}

More Info

The Agent Im using is out of the box so I dont seem to have the ability to edit the Scenarios of that agent as Atlassian are the owners.

The intention is that Multiple prompts, from multiple automations will send to the same readiness agent from different parts of the business so I would like to avoid having several bespoke agents and bespoke prompts per automation as maintenance will be tricky at scale

Thank you

I did some testing. While you can prompt custom Agents to process a prompt from any given Confluence page, the out-of-the-box agents would always try to "analyze" the Confluence page rather than just read and process.

I tried the Readiness Checker in Chat and regardless my attempts, it would always check the Readiness of the Confluence page.

With a Custom Agent, providing the prompt via page worked fine.

So my suggestion would be to duplicate the out-of-the-box agent and adjust the behaviour to reading the Confluence page prompts. You'll still have one central Agent, but one you can control.
