Hello Jira Community! I created a company-managed project. Members of my team can submit requests to this project via the Jira Help Center. When they submit a request, the status of that request shows as "TO DO" in the Help Center (see screen shot):
I assumed that if I changed the status of the corresponding issue on my project, that the status would also change in the Help Center, however, I cannot change the status of the corresponding issue in the project because I do not have permission (see screen shot) I can't even view the workflow:
I have tried updating the "edit issues" permission to include me the project lead but it does not work. What am I doing wrong? Also, am I right in thinking that if I am able to update the issue status, that it will also update the status in the Help Center?
Have you assigned yourself a JSM license and also added yourself to the role Admin or Service Desk team for the project?
@Mikael Sandberg that was it! I hadn't given myself JSM license access. Once I did that, I was able to change the statuses which also updated on the portal.
I must say that I love this Atlassian Community!!! Each time I have had a question, one of you brilliant people comes to my rescue something I truly appreciate being such a Jira novice. Thank you!!!

I think you don't have permission to do it (transition, close, or resolve issue permission). And it's required for users to have the transition issues permission to properly transition issues between two statuses.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Y Dang.
