Embed Kanban Board's Cumulative workflow in JIRA Dashboard

Nikul Vyas February 14, 2025

With reference to the question asked here:

Solved: I can't find the cumulative flow chart,

The current gadgets provided by JIRA do not provide the cumulative workflow chart in JIRA Dashboard, I have a requirement from the stakeholders to have a tiny chart for Kanban cumulative workflow embedded in Dashboard rather than opening JIRA Reports separately, the burndown chart of scrum is available but not the cumulative workflow. Is there a place where I can submit this as a feature intake to Atlassian for JIRA Dashboards?

Hi @Nikul Vyas

Short answer: if you want an actual CFD on a dashboard soon, please investigate the Atlassian Marketplace for addons.

For many years, there have been several suggestions to add Atlassian's interpretation of a Cumulative Flow Diagram (CFD) to dashboards as a gadget, including these:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-4916
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-5662
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-90221
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-16178

Some of these requests are over 20 years old, and there are several more marked as "won't do".  Even if the built-in chart was added as a dashboard gadget, it has many problems reducing its effectiveness for flow management.

I recommend first checking with your Jira Site Admin to learn if you already have any marketplace addons for such gadgets.  If not, pause to consider what features you want in a CFD and then check the marketplace for options: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/

Kind regards,
Bill

Hi @Nikul Vyas

You might want to check out the Nave Kaban Analytics Suite as well. It has a Cumulative Flow Diagram embedded at the project level in Jira, along with plenty of other flow analytics that your stakeholders might find valuable.

Here’s more about how to read the chart.

Hi @Nikul Vyas,

Indeed, Jira does not have a native Cumulative Flow Diagram gadget. Only the CFD project report is available.

If you consider the option of using a plugin from Atlassian Marketplace, our Great Gadgets app offers Cumulative Flow Diagram (CFD) gadget that is more advanced than the Jira's CFD report. It is highly configurable, works with any type of estimates and can generate bands by status, status category, priority, issue type and many other fields,
